“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it” (Acts 4:12-14).
When we have “been with Jesus” per se, there should be a notable difference in our character or manner of behavior. Today, we as Christians cannot physically stand in the company of Jesus as they did centuries ago. He has resurrected to the Heavens and sits at God’s right hand. However, in John 1:1, the Bible tells us that Jesus is also called “the Word of God”. Spending time with God’s Word is symbolic of spending time in the presence of Jesus. The more we spend time reflecting and living God’s Word, then God’s influence and His power will endow us as was with Peter and John. Acts 4:14 says that man’s change from sickness to health could not be denied! Likewise, as we change by the Word, then the character of Jesus in us and the power of God on us cannot be denied. It will be evident.
