The Love that Saves

He Saved Me.

The Love That Saves

Earlier this week on Monday I posted a picture on Facebook titled “He saved me.” It made me think about why God saved the world. Honestly, it has been a hard question for me to answer for the majority of my life. Think about it: “Why did He save the world?”

I believe God saved me because He saw that I was looking for love in all of the wrong places. In my life, I have looked for love (compassion, affection, a sense of belonging, and truth) in friendships, relationships, pornography, sex, sports, and material things. None of these things satisfied my soul, but made me feel lost in some way. I am grateful because God provided a way, through His Son Jesus, for me to find true satisfaction. He is ‘the way, the truth, and the life; and no one can come to experience the love of God, but through Him’ (John 4:16).

Even in my struggles, I trusted that God’s grace, protection, and favor would surround me. I believe He saved me because He wanted me to have an intimate relationship with Him, where I could embrace Him completely.

He gave me a good example of His love in my parents who, since my birth, gave me all of their love every day. Even now, I experience their desire and I know they love to give their love to me because I am their son. Now if a natural parent can provide this type of love, think about how much more God wants to give you His unfailing love because you are His son or daughter (John 1:12)! In His family there is peace that passes all understanding and joy forever more.

As a Father, God cares about your concerns and wants to be the guiding star in your life. Just as I accept and receive my parent’s love, I also trusted them. I trusted them to provide because they love me unconditionally. I may have questioned at times their love, but their actions showed me how much they loved me. In the same way, God’s love is expressed in giving His son to bare our sins because He knew we would sin. As a Father who loves His children, He made a way beforehand to provide us a way to never live without His love. Through Christ, we experience the love of God.

So what do you believe? Ask yourself, “Why did God save me?” Take some time to think about John 3:16, John 14:6, and Romans 8:32. His words are living and they will give you life. They will help you believe so you can receive His love. His love is a gift and He wants you to have it in this present moment and forever.

God loves you so much that He gave up His son, His prized possession, to save you! His love does not withhold anything from you. If you believe, you will receive His love, and you will see that nothing else in the world compares to the love of our Father.

This is the love that saves.

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 NLT).
